The all-conquering England team beat all comers playing with a W-formation. In 1953, the Mighty Magyars, led by the peerless Ferenc Puskas, dismantled England’s system, creating 4-3-3, 4-4-2 and the more fluid systems of today. The shock was immense as the Hungarians, Olympic Champions of 1952, revolutionized the game. Shot by a single camera on a cold and misty November afternoon, parts of it are not very clear. However, this is the complete match, minus one goal that was missed. We have added this from a Hungarian source. The film came to us directly from Puskas Marketing and was signed over to Mastersound by the great man. Without doubt, this was the ‘Match of the Century’. The drag-back by Puskas sent Billy Wright into touch, who said “In all my 105 England games I did not see a better executed goal”. This was viewed live in 1953, on 12″ black and white TVs. Best seen now on a laptop. However, this is our biggest-selling DVD and had been ordered in bulk by International teams.
